Guided Backcountry Tours

World-class terrain lies just outside the boundaries of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Skiers and riders from around the world yearn to explore this visually striking, accessible landscape. Our expert Backcountry Guides cultivate a safe and fun learning environment, giving you the confidence and knowledge to exceed the boundaries of what you thought was possible on snow.

JHMR Backcountry Guide

Start your day right by meeting your backcountry guide at 8:30 a.m. and riding the early Tram or Gondola to the top of the Mountain, where you learn the basics of performing an avalanche transceiver search and then exit the gates to begin your adventure.

What comes next is up to you! Want to tour all day for one epic run? Do you prefer less hiking and more skiing? Are you curious about snow science? Professional backcountry guides create a fun and educational day in the backcountry customized to your interests.

For a successful day in the backcountry, make sure that you come prepared with the right gear and equipment. Note that backcountry gear rentals are only available for clients with a Mountain Sports School backcountry booking.
